(PTI) As reactions poured in over Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called it a “huge step" towards reforming India’s education system. Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down as Education Minister on Saturday after weeks of protests near Jantar Mantar led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and other parts of the country due to mounting public anger over the NEET paper leak and irregularities in the education system. While the Centre defended Pradhan’s record on public service, student welfare and education reforms, opposition leaders called it a victory for democracy and the Constitution, praising students for standing firm to demand accountability from the government.

“Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is a huge step towards reshaping our education system. Well done to students across the country; we are proud of all of you. “For other sections of society—farmers, labourers, the poor, every person whom this government has suppressed and crushed—true courage lies in standing firm in a constitutional manner for one’s dignity. The time has come to remove this government," he added.
