A 58-year-old man, identified as Sandeep Kumar Sinha, died in a tragic accident at Chhattisgarh's Durg railway station on Saturday morning after he slipped while trying to board a moving train. According to officials, Sinha had arrived at Durg railway station as part of his daily routine to travel to Raipur. He had reportedly deboarded a local train and was attempting to board Train No. 22845 Pune-Hatia Express at Platform No. 3 when the accident occurred.
Read Full Story While trying to get onto the moving train, he allegedly lost his balance and slipped into the gap between the platform and the train. In the accident, his right leg was severed, leaving him critically injured. The incident triggered panic at the railway station, with passengers and railway staff rushing to the spot. Railway Police Force personnel and station authorities reached the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident.
Despite immediate efforts, Sinha succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss before he could be shifted for medical treatment. Meanwhile, it has come to light that the deceased was a resident of the Durg area and worked as a regional manager at the Oriental Insurance Company. He was posted in Raipur and used to commute by train every day. Railway Police took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem examination.
The body was later handed over to the family, while an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact sequence of events. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of attempting to board or deboard moving trains, with railway authorities repeatedly advising passengers to wait for trains to come to a complete halt before getting on or off.
