Commonwealth Games 2026: Tapan Mohanty, Yogeshwar Singh Qualify For Men's All-Around Final Curated By, Last Updated: July 25, 2026, 09:32 IST India's Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh advanced to the men's all-around final at the Commonwealth Games, finishing 17th and 18th India gymnast Tapan Mohanty India’s Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh advanced to the men’s all-around final after finishing 17th and 18th respectively, in the artistic gymnastics qualification round at the Commonwealth Games on Friday. Mohanty posted a total of 71.700 points, with Yogeshwar close behind on 71.400. Their performances were enough to secure spots in the 24-man all-around final, although final confirmation remains subject to the two-per-country qualification rule.
In the apparatus events, India had near misses. Swathish Kaitheri Puthalath was named the second reserve for the rings final after scoring 12.450, narrowly missing direct qualification. Yogeshwar, meanwhile, also finished as second reserve in the vault event with a score of 12.600, keeping him in contention should any qualified gymnast withdraw. In the team competition, India ended seventh with a cumulative score of 208.550. The Indian contingent had initially impressed by topping the standings after the completion of Subdivision 2 with the same score. However, stronger performances in Subdivision 3 saw Canada, England, and Australia surge ahead, pushing India down the rankings.
Canada clinched the gold medal with a dominant total of 241.400 points. England followed with 238.250 to secure silver, while Australia claimed bronze with 235.650. Despite the drop in standings, India’s qualification of two gymnasts for the all-around final remains a positive takeaway. Both Mohanty and Yogeshwar will now look to build on their performances and challenge for higher placements in the final, aiming to make a mark against a highly competitive field.
