The move comes after liquor outlets were unexpectedly shut early on Thursday, leaving several customers surprised after they were denied service. “The shops will now close by 8 pm till the weekend. The decision was taken based on the police inputs flagging the prevailing situation due to the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar," a senior Delhi government officer said. The decision has been taken amid continued protests in central Delhi over the alleged NEET paper leak. Students protesting under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that he was responsible for the alleged paper leak, which they claim led several students to die by suicide.
A Parliament March organised by the CJP on July 20 had turned violent, leaving several protesters and some police personnel injured.
