The mission carried 20 next-generation Starlink Version 3 satellites on a suborbital test flight. The development marked a major milestone for SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, in the company’s mission to manufacture a fully reusable rocket designed to carry crew and cargo to Earth’s orbit, the Moon and Mars.

SpaceX engineer Kate Tice called it “lucky Flight 13", saying: “We’re really pumped about this". The rocket –– the world’s tallest and most powerful –– roared off the launchpad after a smooth countdown.
