Jen Gavito, former Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, says there is "no end" to the conflict with Iran without a negotiated settlement. Gavito, who serves as a senior adviser at The Cohen Group, warns that striking civilian infrastructure such as bridges and power plants would mark a major escalation, could violate international law and is unlikely to change Tehran's negotiating calculus.
She also says an effort to further destabilize or unseat Iran's government would require a much broader military campaign and would probably involve US ground troops. She speaks with Joe Mathieu on the late edition of Bloomberg's "Balance of Power." More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video?
