The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has successfully secured the deportation of wanted fugitive Avinash Arjun Rathod from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India on July 23, 2026.
Rathod is wanted in connection with a large-scale financial fraud case. In criminal conspiracy with others, he allegedly induced investors to invest in multiple schemes by falsely promising assured fixed monthly returns. He allegedly dishonestly misappropriated the funds and diverted the proceeds through multiple bank accounts and demat accounts.
Read Full Story Earlier, an Interpol Red Notice had been issued against Rathod through INTERPOL. Rathod arrived in Mumbai on July 23, 2026, and was taken into custody by a team of the Maharashtra Police. The CBI, as the Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, coordinates with all law enforcement agencies in the country through BHARATPOL for assistance via INTERPOL channels.
More than 170 wanted criminals have been successfully brought back to India in the last few years through coordination via INTERPOL channels. Ends
