Gitanjali Angmo, wife of activist Sonam Wangchuk, has come out in his support after he ended his 26-day hunger strike, urging critics to respond with empathy rather than personal attacks. Her remarks come as Sonam Wangchuk's decision to end his fast following talks with the Centre has sparked mixed reactions.
While some welcomed the move as a step toward dialogue, others questioned the outcome of the negotiations. Gitanjali Angmo defended her husband, saying his protest was driven by concern for students and education reforms, and appealed to the public to show compassion.
The comments come amid continuing demonstrations over the NEET paper leak. Although Wangchuk has ended his fast, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that the protest will continue until key demands, including reforms to the examination system and action on accountability, are addressed.
The Centre is expected to hold another round of talks with protest representatives at the Constitution Club. n18oc_breaking-news News18 Mobile App
