In an interview with India Today, Congress MP Imran Masood addressed questions regarding activist Sonam Wangchuk ending his fast and the ongoing opposition protests demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Clarifying his stance, Masood stated that he did not allege any personal deal by Wangchuk, but questioned why Wangchuk broke his hunger strike when representatives of the government met him, while ignoring requests from opposition MPs.
Masood asserted, "यह लड़ाई छात्रों के हितों के लिए है", emphasizing that Wangchuk's decision would not diminish the student movement. Explaining why Congress was conducting separate protests near the Prime Minister's residence and Gandhi Smriti rather than joining students at Jantar Mantar, Masood stated, "हम अपने तरीके से अपना आंदोलन चलाने का काम कर रहे हैं." He credited Rahul Gandhi's courage in protesting near the Prime Minister's house for forcing the government to act.
Masood reiterated Congress's demand for an adjournment motion in Parliament to discuss the student issues and called for Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
