It has not even been 24 hours since climate activist and education reform campaigner Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike in protest of NEET-UG paper leak and other exam irregularities, when his wife Gitanjali Angmo was forced to hit out at his critics, saying that they should pause their political judgements and remember the personal price the activist had paid.

She said Wangchuk had lost 11 kg, including muscle mass, during the fast and was now in the ICU "because he chose sacrifice over comfort." "The least we can offer him is a day of compassion before burdening him with our own expectations and political calculations," she wrote, adding, "Not everyone is qualified to judge a life of selfless service.
