Seers From SC, ST Communities Meet Siddaramaiah A group of 21 seers representing Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and various backward communities met former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and discussed key political appointments in Karnataka, sources said. The delegation included religious leaders from the Bovi, Valmiki, Kuruba, Madivala and other backward communities. During the meeting, they are learnt to have raised concerns over representation for backward communities in the new state Cabinet. According to sources, the discussion also centred on the appointment of the next Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president. The seers reportedly expressed strong support for senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi and urged the party leadership to appoint him as the state Congress chief.

They also favoured Jarkiholi’s inclusion in the Cabinet, saying he should be given both organisational and government responsibilities. The seers further called for greater representation of AHINDA communities in the new Cabinet and sought a stronger role for leaders from backward classes, Dalit and minority communities. The meeting assumes significance as the seers had held a separate interaction with Jarkiholi a day earlier before meeting Siddaramaiah. Jarkiholi Calls For Inclusive Cabinet, Says High Command Will Decide On Sunday, senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi said decisions on the formation of a coordination committee and the expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet would be taken by the party high command. “I do not know if a specific committee needs to be formed right away. If not, the current decision is final. This is ultimately a matter for our party leadership to decide," Jarkiholi told ANI.

He said the immediate focus should be on appointing the Chief Minister and completing the Cabinet expansion so that government work can resume without delay. “Right now, the immediate focus is solely on the Chief Minister’s appointment, and there will be plenty of time to deliberate on other structures afterwards. If necessary, a formal committee can be established later," Jarkiholi said. Stressing the need for coordination within the party and government, he added, “There should be a coordination committee, but the decision will be taken by the high command. Who is to be included in the cabinet is also in their hands. The state president’s decision should take everyone into consideration while finalising it. At this moment, expanding the cabinet is our top priority because we cannot leave ministerial vacancies open for long; the government needs to resume its administrative work immediately." Jarkiholi also advocated a balanced approach in selecting ministers, saying the new Cabinet should reflect both social representation and administrative experience.
