Appealing to engineering graduates to become innovators and technology leaders, former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) S. Rudre Gowda suggested that they identify real-world problems and work towards finding artificial intelligence-based solutions. He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day national-level AI hackathon, Yugma TechFest, organised by JNNCE in Shivamogga on Friday. Rudre Gowda said the event was an excellent opportunity for young engineers to exhibit their skill and intelligence.
“The young engineers should improve the quality of ordinary people’s lives by improving the technology through innovations,” he said. The former legislator said India had earned a unique position in the field of information technology, adding that there had been a growing demand for talented software professionals. “Your talent and expertise can bring about significant transformation in the nation,” he told the students.
Education Society (NES) president G.S. Narayana Rao said those involved in innovations in the AI sector should work towards enhancing the quality of life. He also called upon the students to work for the betterment of the country, instead of looking for opportunities abroad. NES secretary S.N. Nagaraja said the event was an occasion to bridge the knowledge acquired in classrooms and its practical application.
More than 150 engineering students from various States participated in the hackathon. JNNCE principal Y. Vijay Kumar, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering Raghavendra R.J., and others were present.
