Mother ‘Kills’ Teen Son For Opposing Her Affair, Files Missing Complaint; Truth Emerges After 18 Months Published By, Last Updated: June 01, 2026, 13:20 IST Gangamma’s 17-year-old son opposed the relationship and argued with his mother and her boyfriend. Police believe the teenager had become an obstacle to the couple’s relationship Rapid Read The case took a dramatic turn after Gangamma died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday. However, relatives allege that she died after she was taken into police custody for questioning. In Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, a woman allegedly murdered her teenage son with the help of her lover, buried the body in secret, and then filed a missing person’s complaint to divert suspicion. The crime remained hidden for nearly 18 months before a Special Investigation Team (SIT) uncovered the truth. Hours after the murder case came to light, the accused mother herself died under suspicious circumstances, adding another twist to an already sensational case. According to investigators, Gangamma, a resident of Badinehal village in Kurnool’s Kowthalam mandal, lived with her two sons and daughter after her husband Chinnamallayya died in a road accident several years ago. Police say she later developed a relationship with a relative named Dargappa, a resident of J.

Hosalli village in Adoni mandal. Gangamma’s elder son, 17-year-old Veeresh, reportedly opposed the relationship and frequently argued with both his mother and Dargappa. Investigators believe the teenager had become an obstacle to the couple’s relationship. Murder, Burial And A Missing Complaint Police allege that in November 2024, Gangamma and Dargappa murdered Veeresh inside their home. To destroy evidence, they allegedly wrapped the body in a blanket, transported it on a motorcycle and buried it in a nearby cremation ground. A few days later, on November 11, 2024, Gangamma reportedly approached the Kowthalam police station and filed a missing complaint, claiming that her son had disappeared. Despite an investigation, local police were unable to crack the case at the time. High Court Petition Leads To Breakthrough The case took a dramatic turn when Gangamma later approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court, alleging that police had failed to properly investigate her son’s disappearance. According to police sources, she was reportedly advised that families of missing persons could receive compensation in certain circumstances and sought legal intervention. Taking the matter seriously, the High Court directed the CID to submit a detailed report on Veeresh’s disappearance within two weeks.

Following the order, an SIT led by CID officers launched a fresh probe. Within days, investigators reportedly uncovered inconsistencies in Gangamma’s statements and pieced together evidence pointing towards murder. Skeleton Recovered From Cremation Ground Based on information gathered during the investigation, police reached a cremation ground in J. Hosalli village on Sunday and exhumed skeletal remains believed to be those of Veeresh. Family members reportedly identified the remains using items recovered from the burial site, including a blanket, rope and an iron rod. Forensic samples have been sent for scientific examination to confirm the identity of the victim. Investigators have concluded that Gangamma and Dargappa were responsible for the murder, according to preliminary findings. Another Twist: Mother Dies Amid Custody Allegations The case took yet another dramatic turn after Gangamma died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday. Police said she was initially admitted to a hospital in Adoni after falling ill and was later shifted to a private hospital in Kurnool, where she died during treatment. However, relatives and villagers have alleged that Gangamma died after being taken in for questioning by police and have raised allegations of a custodial death.

They have questioned the circumstances surrounding her death and the manner in which her funeral was conducted under heavy police security. Police have registered a case of suspicious death and said an investigation is underway. Meanwhile, Dargappa, the other accused in the case, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The case has triggered widespread shock across Kurnool district, with the alleged murder, the missing-person complaint, the High Court intervention and the accused mother’s mysterious death all raising serious questions that investigators are still trying to answer.
