(Representational Image) Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory imposing restrictions in parts of central Delhi, asking the public to avoid non-essential travel to the New Delhi district and key areas around Jantar Mantar, including Parliament, Central Vista and Connaught Place, amid prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

Besides this guideline, the Delhi Police has also asked online app-based services to “regulate" their operations in these areas. The advisory comes in view of law and order concerns and large gatherings in the area, with authorities urging citizens to plan their journeys in advance and strictly follow directions issued on the ground. Restrictions In central Delhi Police said restrictions are in force in the notified zones to maintain public order and ensure safety. Commuters have been asked to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary and use alternate routes wherever possible. Emergency services such as ambulances, fire services and authorised government vehicles will continue to operate as permitted. Authorities also cautioned against the spread of rumours, asking people to rely only on official updates.

Motorists have been urged to remain patient, adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with personnel deployed at key intersections to ensure smooth movement. App-based Services Told To Regulate In a significant step, Delhi Police has also advised app-based mobility and delivery platforms, including ride-hailing services, food delivery, quick commerce and logistics operators, to regulate their operations in the restricted areas. The advisory said companies may consider measures such as temporary geo-fencing or suspending services to and from the notified zones where feasible. The move is aimed at minimising movement in sensitive areas and ensuring public safety. Police said these measures are intended to protect drivers, delivery partners and commuters while supporting the enforcement of prohibitory orders.
