The government is set to announce a complete overhaul of the Testing Agency following multiple paper leaks and exam mishandling issues. This major decision comes after a cabinet meeting discussed sweeping reforms in the Indian education system. As part of accountability measures, forty-seven bureaucrats and officials in the Education Ministry are being retrenched, following the recent replacement of the education secretary.
Government sources indicated that the education minister will not resign, stating that resignation would mean running away from responsibility. The government aims to demonstrate to protesting students that serious action is being taken to fix systemic flaws and restore trust in competitive examinations. Further announcements detailing structural changes within the testing body and broader educational reforms are expected, alongside a proposed bill scheduled to be tabled in Parliament to bring comprehensive legislative changes to the national education framework.
