Student protests against NEET examination controversies and paper leaks entered their 27th day, expanding across major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bhopal, and Kolkata. Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh held a two-hour meeting with a CJP delegation, including spokesperson Saurabh Das, at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. The central government expressed willingness to grant compensation to families of students who died by suicide and to withdraw cases against peaceful protesters.
However, the government confirmed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will not resign. Demonstrators also protested police action in Delhi, where an investigation confirmed pellet gun usage resulted in student injuries and hospitalisations. Student organisations continue demanding official accountability, compensation, and the dismissal of charges against detained activists. Central Delhi experienced mobile connectivity disruptions, metro station closures, and heightened police deployment around Jantar Mantar.
In response to nationwide unrest, the government announced fast-track courts for exam fraud, stricter penalties for paper leaks, and administrative reforms within the Testing Agency and higher education department.
