Her family has alleged murder and dowry harassment behind her death. The woman had married a resident of Lucknow’s Saadatganj on December 9, 2025, the Hindustan Times reported, citing a police statement. Her family alleged that she was harassed by her husband and other relatives for additional dowry. As per the complaint, the husband demanded a car, despite reportedly getting Rs 7 lakh in cash and various other household items as “gifts" during the course of the marriage.
The victim’s family claimed she informed them about the alleged harassment by her in-laws, and they even travelled to her matrimonial home in Lucknow several times to resolve the matter. After the woman’s death, a police complaint was filed by her uncle, alleging that his niece was killed by her in-laws due to non-fulfilment of the dowry demands.
