The Collectors of Kurnool and Chittoor districts said that the government schools in the State have been undergoing a major transformation driven by strong parental participation, improved infrastructure, and enhanced student welfare. Addressing a Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 4.0 programme held at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Municipal High School in Kurnool on Friday (July 24, 2026), District Collector A.
Siri said that the Mega PTM initiative has helped create a strong bond among parents, teachers, and schools, leading to a more effective monitoring of students’ academic progress and development. She claimed that the State government has accorded top priority to quality education, mental health, and skill development of students. “Development works worth ₹34 crore are being undertaken in 100 schools under the 2024 Annual Action Plan, while infrastructure upgrades are in progress in nearly 1,400 schools across Kurnool district,” Ms. Siri said, adding that 2,000 teachers were allotted to the district in the recent DSC drive, while another 1,600 vacancies were proposed in the next drive.
At Rompicherla in Chittoor district, Collector Sumit Kumar said that the government was spending ₹7,500 on each student every month in government schools. He urged parents to closely
monitor their children’s education, health, discipline, and social environment, stressing the need to keep students away from substance abuse and other harmful influences in an increasingly digital world.
