Amid ongoing protests over examination irregularities, the government has announced legal, judicial, and administrative measures to tackle paper leaks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed ensuring students do not lose an academic year and called for fast-track courts in Delhi, Nagpur, and Aurangabad to speed up disposal of paper leak cases.
The government is also proposing tougher penalties under public examination laws, including increased imprisonment and higher fines for organized networks. Meanwhile, Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed as the new Higher Education Secretary, replacing Vineet Joshi. However, opposition figures have questioned the appointment, while protesters continue to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
