An investigation confirms that pellet guns were used during the student protest in Delhi on July 20. Medical records from Safdarjung Hospital reveal that a twenty-five-year-old Delhi resident sustained pellet injuries to his back and right elbow. The pellets were removed surgically before he was discharged to recover at home. The victim reported feeling intense heat and severe pain as the force fired directly towards demonstrators.
Additionally, a nineteen-year-old protester and two other individuals suffered serious injuries, requiring complex surgeries at Lady Hardinge Medical College and AIIMS Trauma Centre, with concerns over potential loss of vision. While Delhi Police previously denied using pellet guns, medical documents and victim testimonies provide evidence of pellet-inflicted wounds. Other injured demonstrators continue to receive medical treatment or recover at home, with several seeking further specialized care following the clash between security forces and protesters at Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas in the national capital.
