In an interview with Aaj Tak, student protest leader Abhijit Deep outlined the key demands of the ongoing student movement. He stated that the primary demand remains the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following student suicides, alongside ₹1 crore compensation for affected families. He condemned police actions against students on July 20, demanding action against officers and the withdrawal of cases against detained students.
Expressing relief over Sonam Wangchuk ending his hunger strike, Abhijit Deep confirmed that student demonstrations will persist. He warned, "if Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign", the protesting students will start demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also raised concerns over corruption allegations regarding a newly appointed education secretary.
