Despite posting only a few dozen videos, the trio amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across Instagram and Facebook.
The controversy erupted after a series of videos showed the three women participating in what appeared to be wedding rituals with the same groom. The clip showed the man applying sindoor (vermilion) to each bride, the group taking phere (circling the sacred fire), and seeking blessings by touching elders' feet. The ceremony was reportedly held around a havan kund, leading many viewers to believe it was a genuine Hindu wedding. However, the controversy deepened after the sisters uploaded additional videos stating that the marriage was real.
The presence of the chairman of the Hasanpur Municipal Council in the viral videos also attracted attention and fuelled discussion online. The videos are said to have been filmed at the Chamunda Temple in Amroha. However, priests associated with the temple have denied that any such marriage took place there, creating uncertainty over the exact location and circumstances of the ceremony. As the clips continued to spread online, several Hindu organisations objected to the marriage, questioning both its validity and the religious rituals shown in the videos. At the same time, the videos also found support from a section of social media users, who argued that the adults involved should be free to make their own personal choices.
Despite the growing controversy, neither the three sisters nor the man seen in the videos have spoken to the media. Both families have also remained silent, offering no official clarification about the marriage or the backlash surrounding it. Ends
