The Union government held a meeting with representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party following two days of demonstrations, street violence, and lathi charges over the NEET paper leak. The party leaders demanded the resignation of the Education Minister and compensation for families of individuals who lost their lives after the paper leak. While the government indicated plans to introduce a new law with stricter penalties regarding paper leaks, amend the Public Examination Act, and set up fast-track courts, protesters at Jantar Mantar rejected these measures as an eyewash.
Protesters stated that structural education reforms and the minister's resignation are required rather than procedural changes. During the discussions, Union ministers noted that talks were held and another round of meetings was scheduled. Meanwhile, allegations emerged regarding the use of pellet guns against demonstrators during the ongoing protests.
