Subsequently, the agent was put on administrative leave, according to CNN, citing a source familiar with the matter. Another source told the outlet that authorities had identified a person believed to have been leaking confidential information about the Vice President.

In a statement, the Secret Service confirmed the inquiry and said the act would “not be tolerated". However, the agency did not reveal what he was accused of disclosing. “A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security," Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said. Guglielmi refused to comment on the details but emphasised that any activity that threatens trust between a “protectee and their protective detail" does not sit well with the agency’s mission. “While we will not comment on the specifics of this matter, one principle is unequivocal: any conduct that undermines the trust and confidence between a protectee and their protective detail is fundamentally incompatible with our mission and will not be tolerated", he said.

Vance’s Personal Plans That Were Aborted According to CNN, the agent is suspected of leaking information for a recent story on MS Now. The story sought to focus on the “purported burden Vance’s personal travel schedule has placed on his security team." As part of its coverage, MS Now detailed the Vice President’s personal travel plans with his son that included flying on a Marine Corps helicopter to a golf lesson. Those plans were later aborted.
