CENTCOM said in a post on X that the strikes were “aimed to hold Iran accountable and diminish threats” by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to commercial shipping.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations. The semi-official Fars news agency said multiple blasts were heard in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province. Explosions were also reported along the southern coast of Qeshm Island. The development came after US President Donald Trump said he was considering a “massive attack” on Iran, “bigger than ever before”, and that he was close to making a decision.
Trump also said the US would use Iranian assets under its “possession” and control to pay for damage caused to ships and cargo. “These damages
