The United States has launched another wave of strikes against Iran as the conflict enters a new phase, with growing fears of wider regional escalation. Drone attacks have struck Kuwait's Abdali border crossing with Iraq for the second time in a day, causing damage but no casualties, according to Kuwaiti authorities.
The crossing is a vital trade route linking Iraq and Turkey with Gulf markets. Meanwhile, Iran says US strikes hit areas near its Shalamcheh border crossing with Iraq, while explosions were reported near several southern cities. Tehran has warned that no vessel will pass through the Strait of Hormuz without Iranian permission.
US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio say military pressure on Iran will continue until Tehran agrees to a deal over its nuclear programme. But regional mediators, including Qatar and Pakistan, are continuing diplomatic efforts amid fears the conflict could further disrupt global energy supplies.
