A massive political controversy has erupted over the recent national medical entrance examination paper leaks, leading to widespread student protests across the country. The opposition has strongly criticised the central government for its handling of the crisis, demanding the immediate resignation of the education minister and highlighting the severe anxiety faced by millions of students. Representatives from opposition parties argue that the testing agency has completely failed to conduct fair examinations, pointing to the lack of convictions and the swift bail granted to key accused individuals.
In response, the ruling party has dismissed the protests as politically motivated, asserting that the government is committed to systemic reforms. The ruling party emphasised that all paper leak investigations will be fast-tracked under a new anti-copying law and promised a shift to digital examinations next year to prevent future fraud. Meanwhile, political analysts suggest that while student grievances are genuine, the ongoing protests are being heavily utilised by various political factions for their own vested interests.
