The ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament witnessed a massive showdown between the government and the opposition over the medical entrance examination paper leak. The opposition bloc held protests both inside and outside the Parliament complex, demanding the immediate resignation of the Education Minister before any discussion could take place. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister stated that the government is ready for a debate on the education issue without any preconditions and assured strict punishment for those responsible for the leak.
However, the opposition maintained that accountability must be fixed first through the resignation of the Education Minister. A Union Minister accused the opposition of acting irresponsibly and running away from the debate. The protests extended to the streets, with opposition leaders holding demonstrations outside the residence of the Prime Minister and at Jantar Mantar. The continuous clashes and sloganeering between the treasury benches and the opposition ultimately led to the adjournment of the House.
