The ongoing monsoon session of the parliament continues to face constant adjournments and a complete washout amid protests over the NEET controversy. The opposition is demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister and seeking assurances for the safety of protesting students. In an attempt to break the deadlock, the Union Home Minister and other cabinet ministers held a meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker to ensure the smooth functioning of the house and the introduction of bills.
Meanwhile, the epicentre of the protests has shifted to central Delhi, resulting in traffic congestion and violence. Following advice from the municipal council leadership, the local traders association has issued an appeal for all offices, restaurants, and commercial establishments in Connaught Place to shut down by 6:30 PM. The unrest highlights the tension between the government and the opposition, with public life and business operations in the national capital facing disruptions.
