Addressing a press conference ahead of the march, Thackeray stressed that the demonstration would remain peaceful and warned that any anti-social elements trying to create disturbances would face consequences.

The warning comes after the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) jointly announced a protest march in Mumbai in support of students. Raj Thackeray Targets Centre Over Student Protests During the press conference, Raj Thackeray accused the central government of cracking down harshly on peaceful student protests. He also drew a comparison with the BJP’s time in the Opposition, saying the party had regularly staged protests on public issues and demanded the resignation of ministers. Over the past few days, Mumbai has witnessed demonstrations in support of the Jantar Mantar movement, with protesters demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Opposition Leaders Rally Behind Jantar Mantar Protest Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray have extended their support to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke, who is leading a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

Uddhav Thackeray also travelled to the national capital, where he met Dipke and other protesting students and youth at Jantar Mantar to express his support for the movement. Besides the Thackerays, several opposition leaders, including NCP chief Sharad Pawar, have also backed the ongoing protests. Mumbai Police Impose Prohibitory Orders Amid the growing protests, Mumbai Police have imposed prohibitory orders across the city from July 23 to August 6. Under the restrictions, gatherings of five or more people are prohibited. The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan under the Maharashtra Police Act, also bans processions, the use of loudspeakers and amplifying instruments, musical bands, and the bursting of crackers during processions.
