The medical report provides the first detailed account of the officer’s condition after the violence that erupted near the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in the national capital. LIVE Updates On The Jantar Mantar Protests In Delhi According to the statement issued by RML Hospital, ACP Vivek Bhagat was brought to the hospital’s Emergency Department following the reported stone-pelting incident near Jantar Mantar. After the initial treatment and medical evaluation, ACP Bhagat informed doctors that he wished to continue his treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi. “Subsequently, the patient expressed his desire to continue further treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, and was discharged from RML Hospital after the required medical evaluation," the hospital said. The hospital statement added that he was discharged at his own request to pursue further treatment at AIIMS.
Doctors who examined the officer found multiple bruises on both his upper and lower limbs, injuries to the shoulder, and swelling over the parieto-occipital region, or the back of the head. The hospital further said that the officer also reported bleeding from the ear and episodes of vomiting following the incident. ACP Bhagat was evaluated by the treating team in the Department of Surgery, which provided the necessary medical treatment. STONES AND BOTTLES WERE HURLED Delhi Police reported that ACP Vivek Bhagat was injured in a fresh spell of violence near Connaught Place on Wednesday night. According to Delhi Police, the incident occurred at around 8.30 pm near Tolstoy Marg, where some miscreants allegedly attacked police personnel with stones and bottles. ACP Bhagat sustained injuries during the attack and was immediately taken to RML Hospital by senior officers. Police officials said the situation remained tense for a brief period before law and order was restored. The incident was the second major episode of violence involving police personnel on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, ACP Jai Prakash of Punjabi Bagh sustained an injury to his forehead after protesters allegedly resorted to stone-pelting. At the same time, police personnel were deployed at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police had said the ACP was struck by a stone while performing lawful duty and was shifted to hospital for treatment. MULTIPLE POLICE PERSONNEL INJURED According to news agency PTI, at least two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and four other police personnel were injured in the two stone-pelting incidents on Wednesday.
