Quoting police data, the report mentioned that among the accused whose age details were available, a majority belonged to the 18-25 age group. The report also said women account for a significant share of those named in the FIRs. The developments come as Mumbai witnessed multiple demonstrations over the past few days in solidarity with the CJP-led agitation against alleged examination irregularities and the police crackdown on protesters in Delhi. The report said 57 accused were between 18 and 20 years of age, while 80 belonged to the 21-25 age group.

Another 53 were aged between 26 and 30, 40 were between 31 and 40, and 31 were above 40 years. The report further mentioned that age details for 40 of the 301 people named in the seven FIRs were not recorded, although some were identified as students. EVERY THIRD PERSON NAMED IS A WOMAN: REPORT The report also mentioned that 91 of the 301 accused are women, while 201 are men. The gender of the remaining nine people was not recorded, making roughly every third person named in the FIRs a woman, according to the report. The report cited police data accessed for seven FIRs registered at the Sion, Worli, Dadar, Wadala TT, Mahim, Kalachowkie and Bhoiwada police stations, while noting that details for an eighth FIR were unavailable. It also reported that the offences invoked are bailable and carry a maximum punishment of two years. MUMBAI POLICE REGISTER 13 FIRS, BOOK AROUND 400 PEOPLE Meanwhile, according to police, 13 FIRs have been registered since July 18 in connection with the ongoing protests, with around 400 people booked on charges including unlawful assembly and violation of prohibitory orders. News agency PTI quoted officials as saying that cases have been registered at different police stations and notices were issued to those named in the FIRs, after which they were allowed to leave. Police said demonstrations were held at multiple locations, including Shivaji Park, Chaityabhoomi, Chembur and Shiv Sena Bhavan, without permission. They also initiated action over another protest at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar and were in the process of registering an additional FIR.
