(PTI/File) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday hit back at Union Health Minister JP Nadda over his remarks linking the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (SSB) paper leak to a Congress- Conference government, saying the minister had “got the date wrong." Responding to Nadda’s remarks in a post on X, Abdullah wrote, “You are absolutely correct about the SSB paper leak in J&K @JPNadda ji, but you have got the date wrong. It was 2022. The government wasn’t of NC & Congress. It was a government headed by the Lt. Governor, but thank you for reminding everyone of this failure." He further said, “It involved these observations & orders of the J&K High Court.

Earlier, NC chief spokesperson and legislator Tanvir Sadiq also rejected the claim, saying that the recruitment paper leak took place under the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, while the Omar Abdullah-led government assumed office only in October 2024.
“The J&K recruitment paper leak happened in 2022 under the Lieutenant Governor’s administration… The present government assumed office only in October 2024," Sadiq said in a post on X. He accused Nadda of either failing to distinguish between the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and an elected government or deliberately misleading the public. Jammu and Kashmir remained under the administration of the Lieutenant Governor after its special constitutional status was revoked in 2019. An elected government led by CM Omar Abdullah took office in October 2024 following the Assembly elections. The exchange comes amid an ongoing political tussle over examination paper leaks, with the BJP and Opposition parties trading allegations over failures to prevent irregularities in recruitment and entrance examinations across the country.
