Soon after the US strikes, Iranian media reported explosions in southern and southwestern Iran. Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozaffari said a US attack hit the southern coastal city, causing an explosion. Iranian reports said a missile targeted a power plant near the Bushehr nuclear facility. Kuwait’s military also said its air defences were responding to “hostile drone threats”.
Meanwhile, tensions spread across the region as Houthi rebels claimed strikes on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, saying the vessels violated their newly announced blockade on Saudi-linked shipping. The developments came after Trump warned the US would target Iranian bridges and power plants if Tehran attacks ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
