A truck carrying chloride chemical overturned on the Tumakuru-Bengaluru Highway near Kuluvanahalli village in Nelamangala taluk on Wednesday, triggering a chemical leak and causing panic among nearby residents. According to officials, the lorry was travelling from Tumakuru to Bengaluru when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the highway.
The accident resulted in a leak of the hazardous chemical from the tanker. Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Nelamangala, along with Nelamangala Traffic Police, rushed to the spot and launched rescue and containment operations.
The incident led to massive traffic congestion on the busy national highway, with vehicles stranded for several kilometres. Motorists were advised to exercise caution and use alternative routes until the road is cleared.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
