The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri has begun preparations for the annual Dasara Sarannavaratri Utsavams, expected to commence on October 11. The temple authorities are yet to finalise the schedule for the 10-day festivities. Kanaka Durga Temple Executive Officer V. K. Seena Naik on Wednesday held a high-level review meeting with temple officials to assess the arrangements for one of the temple’s biggest annual festivals. Reviewing the preparations, Mr. Seena Naik discussed measures to ensure smooth management of the expected influx of lakhs of devotees during the celebrations.
He directed officials of all departments to immediately prepare detailed action plans and cost estimates for the works assigned to them. The Executive Officer instructed the officials to submit department-wise proposals covering infrastructure, pilgrim amenities and other logistical requirements well in advance to facilitate timely execution of the works. He also asked the temple’s Vedic Committee to finalise, at the earliest, the schedule of the daily alankarams in which Goddess Kanaka Durga will be adorned during the Sarannavaratri celebrations and communicate the details to the temple administration.
Seena Naik directed the engineering wing to prepare proposals for strengthening queue line arrangements, erecting shamianas, providing additional drinking water facilities and taking up other engineering works required to manage the heavy pilgrim rush. The proposals will be placed before the Temple Trust Board for approval at its next meeting. The Executive Officer further instructed officials to prepare a separate report listing proposals that require approval from the State government and the Commissioner of the Endowments Department and forward it to the Commissionerate without delay.
Calling for coordinated efforts from all departments, Mr. Seena Naik said advance planning was essential to ensure the smooth and grand conduct of the annual Dasara festivities without causing inconvenience to devotees. Engineering officials, Assistant Executive Officers from various departments and administrative staff attended the review meeting.
