A 28-year-old carpenter was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a speeding water tanker rammed their motorcycle from behind near Puppalguda Toll Gate in Narsingi on Tuesday night. The tanker subsequently crashed into a car and a scooter before being stopped, police said. The deceased was identified as Sushil Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, while the injured, Suresh, was admitted to hospital.
Both were residing in Lakshmiguda (Katedan) and working as carpenters. According to the police, the two were returning home on a motorcycle after finishing work at an apartment in Hafeezpet when the water tanker hit them at around 8 p.m. Sushil Kumar, who was riding pillion, died on the spot, while Suresh, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered grievous injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police said the tanker driver, identified as Ranjith Simha, continued driving after the collision and went on to hit a car and a scooter. A case
has been registered by the Narsingi police. The body has been shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and further investigation is under way.
