The case involving trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment by a fellow trainee, has taken a fresh turn after reports of an alleged suicide attempt were contradicted by preliminary medical findings. According to reports, Reddy was found unconscious at a friend’s residence in Hyderabad on Monday morning and was rushed to a private hospital. Initial speculation suggested he had attempted suicide after consuming sanitiser or another poisonous substance.
However, preliminary medical examinations reportedly found no traces of poison or toxic substances in his body. Doctors are said to have concluded that he lost consciousness due to excessive alcohol consumption, though an official medical report has not been made public. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Sexual Harassment Allegations The development comes days after a woman trainee IPS officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Police Academy (SVPNPA) accused Reddy of sexual and mental harassment. In her complaint, she alleged that he repeatedly sent obscene messages, harassed her and made remarks intended to damage her reputation among fellow trainees. Following the complaint, the Attapur police registered a case against Reddy under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. He was also suspended from the Academy following the recommendations of an internal committee, according to reports. Police Probe Continues Police are now examining the circumstances that led to Reddy’s hospitalisation. Media reports claimed a bottle of sanitiser and alcohol were recovered from the room where he was found unconscious.
Investigators are looking into whether the incident was linked to the criminal case registered against him. Letter And Social Media Post Reports also claim that Reddy left behind a handwritten note before he was hospitalised. In the letter, he allegedly stated that he had been in a relationship with the complainant for about a year and blamed her and three others for his situation. He reportedly claimed to possess WhatsApp chats and videos to support his version of events. These claims have not been independently verified. Separately, Reddy is also reported to have posted on social media that he has faith in the legal process and believes justice will prevail. The incident has reportedly drawn the attention of the Union Home Ministry, following which an internal inquiry has been initiated at the Police Academy. Authorities are expected to decide on further departmental and legal action after the committee submits its report.
