The warning came amid a fresh escalation in West Asia as the US and Iran continued to exchange strikes, with the region plunging into renewed chaos. Hatami declared that any military intervention would be met with resistance “with whatever we have", according to the Iran International. “If the United States sets its filthy foot on Iranian soil, it will face millions of people who will confront them with whatever they have in their hands," the Army Chief remarked during a visit to army units in the central province of Isfahan.

Taking a dig at the US military, he said Washington had thought it would be “welcomed" if it entered Iran but instead encountered “widespread hatred and the unparalleled steadfastness of the Iranian nation." ‘Knew Enemy Would Not Remain Committed…’ Pointing to the collapse of a preliminary ceasefire agreement with the US, Hatami said the Iranians knew that “the enemy" would not remain committed to the truce. “We knew the enemy would not remain committed to the agreement and would commit an act of folly," he said. “Therefore, we did not waste a single moment and took steps to enhance our combat capabilities", the Iran International reported. The remarks came as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq and Bahrain’s Isa Air Base with drones. “The army targeted the ‘housing and welfare buildings’ and ‘equipment warehouses’ of the terrorist US army at the Azraq base in Jordan with drones in the morning," the IRGC said in a statement carried by the Mehr news agency.

“[Drones] also targeted the ‘large equipment warehouses and sheds’ and the ‘heavy aircraft maintenance and repair sheds’ of the child-killing and criminal US army at the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain", it said.
