The proposal called for a $100 million film featuring historically accurate ships, armour and weapons, while using Homer’s original text performed entirely in Homeric Greek.

Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the film has reportedly grossed around $265 million worldwide and become one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
