Novartis reported better-than-expected sales and earnings for the second quarter, driven by strong performance from its new cancer medicines which offset declining sales of its former blockbuster drug Entresto. CEO Vas Narasimhan discussed the company's strategic focus on navigating significant patent expiries in the first half of the year, followed by a growth phase in the second half fueled by investments in the pipeline and new product launches.
