Home Minister V. Anitha on Sunday (May 31, 2026) met Home Guard K. V. Venkata Ramana, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sheela Nagar after being attacked while on duty near Lankelapalem. Anitha asked about Mr. Venkata Ramana’s condition and reviewed his treatment.

She said Mr. Venkata Ramana was attacked with a knife while on duty and suffered serious injuries. The police responded immediately and shifted him to hospital, where he is under the care of doctors and receiving treatment, she said. She said the accused had been arrested and promised stern action.

Attacks on police and other law-enforcement staff would not be tolerated, she said.
