News18 New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday renewed his call for the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be “taken seriously", a day after US President Donald Trump declared that Netanyahu would not face arrest if he visits the United States. Speaking to reporters, Mamdani said Netanyahu was “the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant" over alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes. “When it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, we’re speaking about someone who’s the subject of an international criminal court arrest warrant. And he’s the subject of this arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity, for war crimes, and he’s the architect of the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza as Israel’s prime minister. These are not facts of my personal assessment, they are facts of public record," Mamdani said. In an interview with The New York Times published on Saturday, Mamdani said he was consulting his legal team to determine whether he had the authority to direct New York police to detain a visiting foreign leader. “Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that’s what we will do," he said, adding that he believed Netanyahu should face justice before the ICC. ICC Warrant And Israel’s Response Mamdani has previously said he would use the New York Police Department to enforce ICC arrest warrants against leaders wanted by the court, including Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
