With an aim of providing necessary technology and financial assistance to engineering students who are planning to start Electric Vehicle (EV) technology start-ups, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has decided to establish an Electric Vehicle (EV) Tech Incubation Centre in Choranahalli, Mysuru. The State government has provided financial assistance of about ₹12 crore to VTU in this regard.
VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the State government soon. “EV technology is moving at a rapid pace across the globe. Many of our students have new ideas about EV tech. But they do not have the necessary funds and technology to implement them.
Therefore, the necessary seed funding and space will be provided for the implementation of new ideas related to EV and the establishment of start-ups in our incubation centre,” he said. “Engineering
students who want to become EV entrepreneurs will be provided with the necessary assistance,” he said, adding that all training, including hands-on experience, marketing ideas, and product description, would be provided.
