A massive protest is underway at Jantar Mantar over the NEET examination controversy and paper leaks, with the opposition joining the students' cause. Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, staged a parallel demonstration near a high-security zone. Tensions escalated as opposition members alleged that female Members of Parliament were manhandled and suppressed by authorities during the gathering.
A government representative stated that they, along with the Union Home Secretary, approached the Leader of the Opposition to negotiate. While the government agreed to hold a discussion on NEET and related education issues in Parliament, the opposition reportedly shifted their stance, demanding the immediate resignation of the Education Minister. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel defended the protest location, emphasizing that the government had ignored the students' demands for a month.
The standoff continues as the Congress party insists on accountability for the paper leaks and justice for the youth.
