Of the four districts constituting the Core Urban Region, Medchal Malkajgiri lags behind the rest, with only 42.31% forms digitised so far. Hyderabad registered 43.85%, while Rangareddy district fared slightly better at 52.97%. Sangareddy with very little urban area has recorded 70.32% digitisation of the forms. All other districts have crossed at least 70% in terms of digitisation of forms, with the highest of 90.33% achieved by Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
Due to the abysmal figures in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts, the average of digitisation has been dragged down to 68.29%. Hyderabad District Election Officer R.V. Karnan made an appeal to the voters to return the filled in forms to the BLOs without delay. Addressing a media conference on Tuesday along with the Additional Commissioner B. Santhosh and Zonal Commissioner Chandrakala, Mr. Karnan urged the voters not to wait till the last moment, as servers might go down due to last minute digitisation. Seeking to allay fears around SIR, Mr. Karnan assured that the welfare schemes were not linked to the exercise.
Even if the voter stays in Hyderabad, he or she can avail the welfare schemes in the districts, he said. Warning the election staff of severe action in case of failure, Mr. Karnan said Vigilance officials have been deployed to monitor the work of the BLOs. He urged the political party representatives to appoint Booth Level Agents forthwith to help the BLOs. For 4,062 polling stations, a total 25,160 BLAs have been appointed, and each BLA may bring 30 filled in forms to the BLO. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy, during a video conference on Tuesday, directed the officials to pay special attention to urban areas and constituencies where progress is slow.
He asked them to expedite the digitisation of forms and effectively utilise the available time to achieve the targets. He asked the district level election officials to ensure over 90% completion in the enumeration process by this weekend.
