(PTI file photo) A joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday foiled an exfiltration bid in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, leading to the apprehension of three individuals. According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, the operation was launched in the Uri area following specific intelligence inputs.
During the search operation, alert troops intercepted two men from Sopore who were allegedly attempting to exfiltrate from the area with hostile intentions. Their local guide was also apprehended during the operation. The Army said further investigations are underway.
“Two individuals from Sopore apprehended by vigilant Chinar Warriors while attempting exfiltration in Uri Sector with inimical intent along with their accomplice guide. Further probe underway," the Army wrote. In a follow-up post, the Army identified one of the apprehended individuals as an “intruder" from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and said he had been handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal proceedings. “POJK intruder Apprehended A POJK intruder has been apprehended, who was intercepted by alert Chinar Warriors while crossing the Line of Control in Uri Sector. The vigilant troops maintained restraint while challenging the intruder and surgically apprehended the individual.
