The leaders gathered to protest over the NEET issue after celebrating Mallikarjun Kharge's birthday. Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh, attempted to negotiate with the protesting leaders.
According to Singh, the Congress party shifted its goalposts by escalating its demands. While the government agreed to a discussion on the NEET controversy, the Congress is now demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and action against alleged police brutality towards students. Following Rahul Gandhi's social media appeal for citizens to join the protest, security was heightened, and the area was cleared by police and SPG personnel.
