The Bengaluru City Police have launched an online gender sensitisation course under the Nirbhaya Project to raise awareness about gender discrimination and its harmful impact on individuals and society. Announcing the initiative on Tuesday, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the programme aims to educate the public on gender equality through an interactive online learning platform developed as part of the Safe City project.
The course is available on the Safe City Bengaluru portal (and is open to all citizens. Participants are required to register on the portal, log in, enrol for the course, watch the awareness videos, and complete quizzes after each module. Those who complete the programme will receive a digital certificate.
According to the police, the initiative is designed to improve public understanding of gender discrimination, challenge harmful stereotypes, and promote respectful and inclusive behaviour. The course forms part of the Bengaluru City Police’s broader efforts under the Nirbhaya Project to create safer public spaces and foster gender-sensitive attitudes among citizens.
Singh urged members of the public, particularly students and young adults, to participate in the programme and help build a more gender-equal and inclusive society.
