Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha urged the committee constituted to identify and recognise Telangana statehood movement activists to complete its exercise without delay and adopt a humanitarian approach while framing its recommendations. Keshava Rao, Ms. Kavitha suggested that the committee study the Union government’s Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana and the policy governing recognition of participants in the Hyderabad Liberation Movement while formulating eligibility criteria and benefits for Telangana movement activists.
She urged the committee to extend recognition on priority to activists who had been jailed, faced criminal cases, FIRs or charge sheets, suffered police excesses, injuries, disabilities, property loss or loss of employment due to their participation in the Telangana agitation.
She said organisations associated with the Telangana movement, including Telangana Jagruthi, possessed extensive databases of activists and expressed willingness to share the information with the committee.
